Book Deals: K. Ancrum's Darling Acquired by Imprint!
The first time I met Kayla Ancrum, we were at a YA festival together talking about our own work. She signed a copy of The Wicker King for me, I geeked out more than a little bit, and now a few years later, here we are.
Kayla’s prose is something wondrous. If you’ve read her debut or her latest, The Weight of the Stars, you’ve seen it. Both in her novels and on her Tumblr. Poetic and lyrical, she skillfully says so much in so little, in a way that borders on magic. And I’m just so honored to be working with her on her latest books.
And you know, to talk about them right now. One of which, is DARLING.
Acquired by Imprint, DARLING is a post-modern Peter Pan retelling set in Chicago, and I cannot wait for readers to fall in love with the cast of characters Kayla is recreating. The book digs into heavy themes, and is just absolutely stunning.
Here are the details from Publisher’s Marketplace:
Author of THE WICKER KING and THE WEIGHT OF STARS K. Ancrum's DARLING, a post-modern retelling of Peter Pan in modern day Chicago, in which Wendy Darling follows Peter and his Lost Boys through the city's nightlife and underbelly, only to discover that Peter isn't what he seems...and the Lost Boys are in more trouble than they realize, to John Morgan at Imprint in a two book deal, for publication in Fall 2020, by Eric Smith at P.S. Literary Agency (World).
Congrats Kayla! So thrilled about this book, and that future one you’re working on as I type this. Because I know you.
And be sure to follow Kayla on Twitter, and send her all the congrats. Photo of Kayla by Jasmine Denise Photography.
