Caught in a Bunderstorm of Web Traffic

bunderstorm.jpg

This past week, Cuteoverload, one of my favorite websites for all that is cute, featured one of my photos, a silly picture that I had taken of my girlfriend getting mauled by bunnies. It was a ferocious attack, rivaled only by the carnage seen in Night of the Lepus and delivered with the fury of the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog

This caused more traffic then my little blog / portfolio has ever seen. When the Silverstein video debuted on MTV, I saw a few dozen extra hits and some new search results hitting my site, mostly along the lines of “music video where dude steals diamond.” My stats went from 70 hits to 1,237. I’ve since gone back to my normal traffic. My internet fame was fun while it lasted.

This however, made me feel a little bad for my visitors, as all of them immediately hit up the photography section, hoping for some more cute animal photography. Alas, they were probably disappointed, seeing only indie-rock bands and tour photos. This made me decide to add a new category in my photography, which will be popping up in the coming weeks.

That being said, here’s a random photo of my bunny, Ash, sitting on my bed. Yes, he is the size of a small dog now. Seriously, compare him to the size of those black pillows. It’s ridiculous.
Be sure to check out the actual page on Cuteoverload. That’s my girlie. Read the comments, they are sure to make you laugh, as she certainly is “trapped in a bunderstorm.”

Life updates? I’m meeting with the artist who is designing my half sleeve tomorrow and, checking out the Eastern State Penitentiary for the first time. Should be a nice night full of fun photos and hopefully, an awesome looking sketch of my future ink.

I’ll be meeting with some of my friends in Houston Calls and Socratic for a top secret web project. Very exciting. If you don’t know either of those two bands, shame on you. Houston Calls toured Australia with Yellowcard last year, and Socratic just finished producing their new album with Mark Hoppus of Blink182 fame. The site is set to launch at the end of the year, and man, it is going to be one fun endeavor. Details to follow.

Also, everyone, please try some of the Halo III Edition Mountain Dew. It takes like you are drinking Starbursts out of a can. It is pure happiness.

If You Could See Into My Soul

Whoa… it’s kinda like I’m famous.

So there it is, the Silverstein video for If You Could See Into My Soul. You can see me in it, looking silly, getting thrown to the ground by the band, and then getting told off by the not-as-hot-as-my-girlfriend getaway girl.

The video has been accepted to MTV2, MTVU, FUSE, and the Much Music network. It’ll also be playing in all Target stores nationwide.

I wonder how much web traffic my site is going to get because of this. Tim Shiftcore posted a blog about this over at MonsterPlastic before I could. I love that guy. Go hire him for something.

I also just realized that I never posted any of the video stills from the shoot, which I really like. My buddy Jostin Harrington, an insanely talented photographer from Pittsburgh, took these. When my mom saw them, she told me how handsome I looked, and informed me I should dress up in white shirts more often.

Thanks mom.

Simpsons & Silverstein

silversteinalbum.jpgThe music video shoot with Silverstein was absolutely amazing. The video should be out in three weeks or so, and will be playing on all major music video channels, along with an awesome Making Of featurette on Fuse. Thanks for having me guys! Lots of love to Dan and Steve from iEndevour Media, Jostin from Less Avenged, as well as the two stellar makeup artists, Jamie and Lisa.

The idea behind the video is a bank robbery. The band is stealing a giant diamond from the vault. I play the inside man who gets them in, and then, along with the getaway girl, I try to take the jewel for myself. It was a lot of fun. How many people can say they’ve played the main character in a music video for one of their favorite bands? Not many.

Oh, and I got to keep the faux diamond, along with a lot of other memorabilia from the set. Yay!

Their new album, Arrivals & Departures, came out today on Victory Records. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go pick this disc up. The single is catchy as all hell. Go stream is via their myspace. If anyone sees any photos from the shoot up on the internet anywhere, let me know!

You can currently catch Silverstein on tour with Rise Against. I have no words for how cool that is.

simpsons.jpgOn another note, the great thing about making your own Simpsons avatar, is that it can be as realistic as possible.

Such as this Simpsons interpretation of Heather and I. She’s STILL hotter then me, even in cartoon form. *sigh* I thought the beer can on her shirt was appropriate, as she can drink me under the table anyday.

Stole this idea from Mark. Check him out, and his sweet internet show, Cheap Dates, which is full of ideas that I plan on stealing next time Heather comes to visit.
