Microcrafts: My Bunny is a Slut in Sweden

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to write a little something about this.

In October 2011, Quirk released an adorable craft book called Microcrafts. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a craft book full of teeny tiny little crafts. It was a really fun book to work on. I adore all three of the authors (two of them work at Quirk), and bloggers were excited about the title.

However, while the book was in production, the editor and co-author, Margaret McGuire, had a strange request.

She asked if I’d bring my bunny, Rory, in for a photo shoot.

The plan? She wanted to feature my bunny through the book, posing with tiny crafts. Perhaps most notably, the final page of the book would have a close up photo of her cottonball tail, with “The End” written on it. Adorable!

Now, a lot of Quirk titles get translated into other languages, picked up by publishers abroad. And it’s always a real thrill seeing translated books come into the office, with new covers and languages. When the Swedish edition of Microcrafts showed up, I learned that “End” translates to “Slut”.

So. Let’s take a look at the translated pages.
