Guest Lecture @ NYU: Part II [Photos]

So I gave another guest lecture at NYU last week… only it wasn’t at NYU. The classroom and students had to be moved to the Manhattan Village Academy, a cute high school in Chelsea.
I couldn’t help but smile at the surroundings. Bulletin boards with class trips thumbtacked up, multicolored construction paper full of announcements, tiny wooden desks and uncomfortable chairs.
I was invited by my friend Maya Sloan, a fabulous author from Brooklyn. If you’ve never picked up High Before Homeroom, you should. It’s a beautiful book. She’s also working on a YA series with Kendall and Kyle Jenner (you know, from the Kardashians). You can read about that on Entertainment Weekly.
I had a lovely time talking with students in her class, a course for budding novelists, about the publishing world. I came in to talk about marketing, but eventually started discussing the importance of maintaining an online identity, how the publishing process works, how to pitch an agent, etc. It was a lot of fun, especially because I remember when I had all those kind of questions.
Anyhow, I took a few pictures. Here they are. Thanks for having me Maya, can’t wait to do this again!
